After more than fifteen years of providing support for trauma education in the Southeastern region, The Southern Arizona Trauma Network (SATNet) Board has decided to dissolve in 2013. Some of SATNet’s many accomplishments include funding for the Tri-County MCI trailer, multiple grants to several EMS agencies for various projects, and years of coordinating the Southwest’s premier trauma educational event, the Southwest Regional Trauma Conference (SWRTC). Although this ends a long history of sponsorship for educational activities, it also presents an opportunity to assure continued success with the annual SWRTC. SATNet has negotiated with the Supporting Academic Trauma Foundation, a new organization which will assume responsibility for the operation of the annual Southwest Regional Trauma Conference. We are excited that the conference will continue, as usual, with the same professionals who have given so much of their time in prior years. This transition will also bring some great new changes in the look and feel of the conference.
The SATNet Board of Directors, conference coordinators, and all the volunteers appreciate the continued support of the many healthcare professionals involved in SATNet and the conference: EMS providers; nurses; respiratory therapists; physicians; and vendors and suppliers. The conference has grown over the years to become the signature trauma education event. We fully expect to see the tradition continue under the leadership of the Supporting Academic Trauma Foundation.
